The Shure WL185M is a professional low-profile lavalier (lapel) microphone with TA4F connector — designed to plug directly into Shure bodypack transmitters (BLX1, SLXD1, ULXD1, QLXD1, etc.) for wireless presentations, theater, broadcast, and recording. Cardioid pattern provides better feedback resistance than typical omni lavaliers.

Why cardioid lavalier: Most lavalier mics use omnidirectional capsules that pick up sound from all directions. That works well for film/TV where audio is controlled, but in live PA situations (presenters, theater), it makes feedback management hard. The cardioid WL185M rejects sound from below and behind, providing higher gain before feedback in challenging acoustic environments — critical for houses of worship and theaters with floor monitors.

Specifications:

  • Polar pattern: Cardioid
  • Element: Condenser (back-electret)
  • Connector: TA4F (Shure 4-pin mini connector) — mates with Shure bodypack transmitters
  • Length: ~1.2m cable
  • Includes: lapel clip, windscreen
  • Color: Black

Compatibility: Plugs into Shure bodypack transmitters: BLX1, SLXD1, ULXD1, QLXD1, GLXD1, Axient Digital handhelds, etc. Does NOT work with Sennheiser or other brands without an adapter.

Ideal for: Theater productions, houses of worship with active stage monitors, presenters in feedback-prone rooms, broadcast/TV, and any wireless lavalier application needing cardioid pattern's feedback resistance.
