The Shure UA874WB is an active wideband directional log-periodic (LPDA) antenna for Shure wireless microphone systems — the antenna engineers reach for when wireless reception needs to be extended, when interference is an issue, or when a system needs to cover a large venue reliably. The "WB" (wideband) version covers 470–952 MHz, supporting virtually every Shure wireless system across all worldwide frequency bands in a single antenna.

Why an active directional antenna: Standard 1/4-wave "rubber ducky" antennas mounted directly on the receiver have limited range and poor rejection of off-axis interference. An active directional antenna focuses reception in one direction (toward the stage), reducing pickup of off-stage RF noise, and includes a built-in low-noise amplifier (gain switchable: 0/6/12 dB) to compensate for cable loss when the antenna is mounted away from the receiver.
