The Chauvet DJ DMX-RT4 is a 4-zone DMX show recorder and trigger — records up to 4 separate DMX scenes/shows, then plays them back with a button press. Used in venues that want pre-programmed lighting looks ("bar mode," "dance mode," "close mode") accessible to staff who don't know how to program lighting consoles.
What it does:
- Record mode: Connect to a DMX-output console, capture a lighting look as it's being created, store it permanently in one of 4 trigger zones
- Playback mode: Press one of 4 trigger buttons (or trigger via external switch/contact closure) to recall and run a stored show
- Wall-mountable for permanent installs where staff need access
- External trigger inputs for integration with door sensors, building automation, or external control panels
Why this kind of device exists: Most venues can't afford a dedicated lighting operator. Programming a full lighting console nightly isn't realistic. The DMX-RT4 lets a designer come in once, program 4 scenes that match the venue's typical needs, and then leave — the staff just push buttons.
Specifications:
- DMX channels: full 512-channel universe recording per zone
- 4 independent show zones, each independently triggerable
- DMX in (for recording) and DMX out (for playback)
- External trigger inputs for automated activation
- Wall-mountable with included hardware
Ideal for: Restaurants and bars with installed lighting needing simple staff-accessible control, houses of worship with pre-programmed service scenes, schools and small theaters with limited tech staff, and AV integrators delivering "set it and forget it" lighting systems.
