The Ernie Ball 2239 RPS-9 Super Slinky is the reinforced version of Ernie Ball's iconic Super Slinky (.009-.042) electric guitar strings — same slinky feel and tone, but with patented reinforced wrap-around the ball end to eliminate the most common string-breaking failure point.
What "RPS" (Reinforced Plain Steel) means: The 1st (high E) and 2nd (B) plain steel strings have a brass-coated steel wire wrap added at the ball end. This extra reinforcement prevents the wire from snapping at the bridge — where most string breakage actually happens, especially during aggressive bending and string-pulling techniques. Same playing feel as standard Super Slinkys, dramatically longer life.
String specs (.009-.042 Super Slinky gauge):
- 1st (E): .009 plain steel with RPS reinforcement
- 2nd (B): .011 plain steel with RPS reinforcement
- 3rd (G): .016 plain steel
- 4th (D): .024 nickel-wound on hex steel core
- 5th (A): .032 nickel-wound on hex steel core
- 6th (E): .042 nickel-wound on hex steel core
- Element Shield packaging — nitrogen-sealed for freshness
- Made in California, USA
Ideal for: Guitarists who break high E or B strings frequently during bends, players using heavy vibrato/tremolo bar technique, gigging musicians who can't afford string breakage mid-show, and Super Slinky fans wanting longer string life without changing gauge.
